2:00 PM -- Yes, Dear Lassies and Laddies, hard as it may be to believe, another year has flown by, and Burns Night is hard upon us once again. Festivities have, I'm sure, already erupted over in Scotland, where the following plangent cri de coeur is roiling the message boards of the Guardian Unlimited Website:

  • Hilary Osborne is in need of some help with her haggis

Please pitch in. She's particularly exercised over what to do with the leftovers. As if there were ever any leftovers in my house!

And do check out the poet's epochal tribute:

  • Address To A Haggis

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
    Great chieftain o' the puddin-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
    Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy o' a grace
    As lang's my arm.

And it just gets better from there.

With neeps 'n' tatties... Mmmmmmm... It's offal!
