Google is in talks to acquire online video management firm Brightcove for $500 million to $700 million, according to reports. Brightcove, which has reached profitability, could help Google's YouTube enter the paid video service market.
Online video management and metadata company Digitalsmiths is hiring new execs in the LA area, such as Josh Wiggins, its new vice president of business development for the West Coast.
Adobe Systems is acquiring reporting firm Omniture for $1.8 billion, planning to integrate its marketing and analytics tools into its creative suite products.
And in today's News Bits, Facebook now has 300 million users, and, more importantly, it's cashflow positive.
