A former Level 3 Communications Inc. (NYSE: LVLT) executive is taking over as CEO of content delivery network (CDN) Panther Express Inc.

Steve Liddell, who served as group vice president of Level 3's transport and infrastructure group, has been hired as the company's new chief executive.

Panther has been on the hunt for a new CEO for the last several months, especially in the wake of a $15.75 million funding round led by Index Ventures . Liddell will be replacing former DoubleClick Inc. CEO and Panther founder Kevin Ryan, who has served as interim CEO while the company searched for a new head.
