LOS GATOS, Calif. -- Coaxsys Incorporated, the leader in delivering customer premise networking over existing wires, today announced that McDonough Telephone Cooperative of Illinois will be using Coaxsys' IPTV 7000 TVnet Network to deliver Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) to its customers. McDonough is the first member of the Western Illinois Video (WIV) group to achieve an in-home networking solution over existing wiring in the home.
Coaxsys TVnet is the most widely deployed IPTV network today. It is the only solution on the market to instantly transform in-home coaxial wiring into a high-speed, IPTV-ready digital entertainment network. Because of TVnet's plug-and-play installation, McDonough will no longer have to engage in costly home rewires, thus achieving more a more cost effective and rapid market penetration in IPTV.
McDonough Telephone Cooperative is a member of Western Illinois Video, a group dedicated to efficiently deploying advanced services. McDonough has served rural customers in Western Illinois for more than half a century. Its services now are a far cry from its humble beginnings as a dialup telephone provider to neighboring rural counties: It has since offered long distance, business services, and Internet access to its customers. Now, with the adoption of Coaxsys' TVnet, McDonough will be able to deploy IPTV rapidly and at an affordable cost.
"IPTV represents an exciting opportunity for us and our subscribers," said McDonough Central Office Supervisor Melvin Moore. "Throughout our company's history we have looked for ways to provide our customers with value-added services. IPTV is clearly such an opportunity, and Coaxsys' TVnet is the only product we've seen that has enabled us to avoid having to rewire each home. It works right out of the box, which is going to save us - and our customers - a lot of time and money."
Gregory Boe, VP of Sales at Coaxsys, noted that "McDonough is ahead of the curve with its deployment of IPTV. Telcos across the country recognize the need to identify a cost-effective solution that does not require rewiring. TVnet utilizes the coaxial wiring already in-place in most homes throughout the country, transforming old-fashioned coax into a full-fledged Internet and video-streaming network. Our plug-and-play technology will enable McDonough to instantly compete with cable and satellite television offerings."
