Byrd to COO at 360networks

VANCOUVER -- 360networks today announced the appointment of Jimmy Byrd as chief operating officer. Byrd will be responsible for network operations, interconnection, provisioning, co-location and information systems.

"Jimmy brings to 360networks an outstanding background in telecommunications and information technology, a strong representation as a builder of businesses, and a clear vision of what network service providers will be in the future," said Greg Maffei, president and chief executive officer of 360networks. "Jimmy is an exceptional leader who will bring additional operating strength to a strong management and technical team."

Byrd was most recently president of North America at Level 3 Communications where he oversaw all commercial operations in North America and managed approximately 2,400 people. Previously, Byrd was president and chief executive officer of a Level 3 subsidiary that provides computer outsourcing, systems integration and Web-enabling services.
