CHIPPENHAM, U.K. -- Aria Networks, a leading provider of planning solutions for NGNs today announces the addition of a new module to its iVNT software solution suite – iVNT Ethernet.

iVNT Ethernet is a software module within the iVNT solution suite that enables telecom carriers to plan, activate and operate their Provider Backbone Bridging, Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE) based Ethernet transport networks to ensure the infrastructure can deliver the appropriate service quality and availability.

Provider Backbone Bridging, Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE) is an emerging technology being defined by the international standards bodies, aimed at providing carrier-grade Ethernet transport. PBB-TE will enable wide-scale deployment of Ethernet Switched Paths (ESPs) as a deterministic transport mechanism. PBB-TE also enables Ethernet transport networks to be operated in a manner similar to existing transport technologies, such as SONET/SDH.

“Aria is taking the lead by delivering innovative PBB-TE planning and activation capabilities that enable the operational viability of PBB-TE transport networks and services,” said Dr. Jay Perrett, Aria’s VP of R&D, “iVNT Ethernet leverages the proven iVNT capabilities and builds on our existing MPLS-TE, IP, Optical and VPN planning modules, enabling carriers to address their multi-technology NGN planning needs.”
