LTD has passed LG U+ small cell eNodeB (eNB) benchmarking test (BMT) and has chosen AirHop’s eSON™ advanced self-organized networking (SON) software for its commercial deployments of LTE small cells for Korean operators.
The upcoming deployments by ARItel, a pioneer of LTE small cell solutions, mark the first use of advanced SON in South Korea’s emerging LTE wireless heterogeneous networks (HetNets). Fast-growing mobile data usage has driven the rapid deployment of LTE small cells in South Korea, and ARItel’s small cell systems, powered by AirHop’s eSON™ technology, satisfy operator needs for intelligent self-configuration to reduce operating expenses and real-time optimization to avoid congestion and improve capacity.
By continuously monitoring and optimizing the small cell network at intervals as small as hundreds of milliseconds, eSON™ increases the total network data throughput by 10 percent - 45 percent, and cell edge user data throughput by 10 percent -30 percent. The client-server based eSON™ solution provides flexibility and scalability that enables ARItel to easily deploy different types of small cells, including residential, enterprise and public access.
