Intel and telcos left in virtual RAN limbo by rise of AI RAN
A multitude of general-purpose and specialist silicon options now confronts the world's 5G community, while Intel's future in telecom remains uncertain.
6:00 PM -- There's an interesting article on new 60GHz short-range wireless technology. Georgia Tech researchers are promising 15 Gbit/s at a distance of 1 meter, 10 Gbit/s at 2 meters, and 5 Gbit/s at 5 meters from the new technology.
That's super-super-fast.
The only problem I can see is the range. 802.11g WiFi has a range of over 30 meters. This new technology splits the difference in range between WiFi and ultra-wide band.
Still, this should be interesting to watch as it develops.
