SHENZHEN, China -- ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, is pleased to complete a successful demonstration of the world’s first 40 MHz uplink Carrier Aggregation (CA) over a TD-LTE network, in partnership with Marvell Technology Group.
With a terminal device by Marvell, ZTE achieved a consistent uplink data rate of 90 Mbps using 0 system configuration ratio (uplink/downlink: 3/1) and 64QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) in the demonstration at the 10th Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) in Shanghai, China. The terminal provided by Marvell is the world's first that supports uplink CA and 64QAM.
One of the major challenges faced by TD-LTE operators is limited uplink throughput. The successful demonstration by ZTE and Marvell will help the industry overcome the limitation, enabling downlink CA to use the single- or dual-stream beam forming technology on multiple carriers to improve the performance of TD-LTE networks.
Carrier aggregation is a core technology for LTE-Advanced networks, enabling operators to combine multiple carriers at the same or different frequency bands into one transmission channel to take full advantage of limited frequency spectrums to multiplex a cell's peak rate.
