STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has signed a three-year frame contract with True Move H, a subsidiary of True Corporation Plc under the True Mobile Group, to enhance further rollout of LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation and 2G/3G networks on 900/1800/2100MHz spectrum in North, Central West, and South Thailand.
As part of the contract, Ericsson will deploy its multi-standard radio equipment using the new Ericsson Radio System and Ericsson RBS 6000 base station family for macro and small cells. Ericsson indoor small cell solutions include the Ericsson Radio Dot System for medium and large buildings, and the Ericsson RBS 6402 Indoor Picocell for smaller buildings. This will help TrueMove H enhance data speeds and improve app-coverage; enabling Thai consumers to enjoy improved mobile experience, such as faster web browsing and downloads.
According to the South East Asia and Oceania edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report, smartphone penetration in Thailand will be more than 90 percent by 2018, compared to around 60 percent at the end of 2015. With recent 4G/LTE auctions, LTE subscriptions in Thailand will reach around 30 percent of total mobile subscriptions by 2018.
