ZTE Wins Bangladesh Phone Project

SHENZHEN, China -- Bangladesh is to undergo a massive expansion and modernisation of its telecommunications network following a major agreement announced today between Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) and ZTE Corporation of China.

ZTE, China’s largest listed telecommunications equipment provider, is to provide 59 cities and 220 towns with its highly successful ZXJ10 switching equipment. The equipment will enable BTTB to deliver high-quality voice services to its customers across Bangladesh.

"This order from the BTTB represents a huge vote of confidence for ZTE, not just in terms of the quality of the equipment to be provided, but in our ability to support the customer in a crucial and visionary upgrade that will see Bangladesh make a giant leap forward in technology," said Mr Reng Yong, ZTE’s Product Manager for ZXJ10.

The technology’s ability to provide flexible networking, high stability, extensive services, high integration and large capacity, is increasing its popularity around the world. Over 70 million lines using the ZXJ10 equipment have been deployed in more than 50 countries and regions, including the United States, Hong Kong, Russia, Pakistan, Egypt, Kenya and Bengal.

The ZXJ10 equipment is part of ZTE’s product range, developed to provide extensive, easy-to-use and customised services for various customer needs. Flexible solutions such as Centrex, Phone Bar and Phone Partner enable telecom operators to flexibly and conveniently provide services that meet their users’ needs.

This latest Asian success for ZTE comes only a day after it announced its major triumph at the Olympic Games venue in Athens, Greece, where the company’s ADSL network has been accepted by OTE, the Greek Telecommunications Organisation. The network covers 16 points in Athens, including the main venue, international broadcasting centre, news centre, and the press village, which are all able to access broadband Internet services throughout the event.
