Vitesse Names China Mgr

CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq:VTSS - News), today announced the appointment of Jay Zhang as China Country Manager to drive the growing market demand for the company's high-performance, cost-competitive semiconductor solutions. As China Country Manager, Mr. Zhang will manage all sales and customer support activities in the company's newly expanded China operations. Mr. Zhang will report directly to Phil Richards vice president of sales for Asia Pacific.

We have seen rapid adoption of the company's reliable, cost-competitive communications and storage semiconductor technologies with major Tier 1 OEMs and ODMs in this region," said Phil Richards, vice president of sales for Asia Pacific. "Jay brings a breadth of sales and management experience, coupled with his market knowledge and leadership which will be invaluable as we extend our presence in Asia."

Vitesse's newly expanded China Operations include the opening of a customer service center located in Shenzhen, China. In addition, Vitesse has appointed a new regional sales manager in Shenzhen and also added field applications engineers in Beijing and Shanghai. The company will open a new sales and customer design center in Shanghai toward the end of May that will house Sales, and Field Application Engineers from the Network and Ethernet product divisions.

Mr. Zhang has over 20 years of sales, marketing and operation management experience. Prior to joining Vitesse, Mr. Zhang's most recent position was the Director of Sales at Marvell where he was responsible for managing the regional team in developing major accounts and driving revenue in China. Mr. Zhang's professional career consists of successful sales management experience for Cellon International, Exodus Communications and Agilent where he made significant contributions in growing revenue for these companies in Asia Pacific/China. Mr. Zhang acquired a BSEE degree from the Beijing Automation Engineering University and a MBA from Emporia State University.
