STOCKHOLM -- Transmode, a pioneering supplier of Optical Networking solutions, today announced enhancements to the range of 10 Gbit/s networking options available across its product portfolio, together with extended system reach and capacity for the TM-Series family.

The announcements, made during this week's Networks Telecom event in Stockholm, concern the broadening of the range of 10 Gbit/s options available for the company's TM-Series and TS-Series platforms. Both platforms will now use XFP 10 Gbit/s pluggable optics in addition to the existing 10 Gbit/s optics available on the TM-Series platform. The capacity and reach of the TM-Series platform has also been extended to configurations with up to 32 amplified channels in excess of 300 km.

The use of the new 10 Gbit/s XFP optical modules brings both platforms in line with Transmode's currently available pluggable C/DWDM 2.5 Gbit/s optics and provides 10 Gbit/s capability across all network types, from enterprise and campus networks through to metro, metro core and regional applications.

The TS-1100 will support 10 Gbit/s traffic through the new 7900 multirate transponder supporting 10 Gigabit Ethernet WAN PHY and LAN PHY, STM-64/OC-192 and 10G Fibre Channel using XFP optics. The TM-Series will utilize a new TP-D10G-lite double transponder supporting two 10 Gbit/s services using XFP optics.

Transmode will continue to provide the existing fixed 10 Gbit/s optics solutions for applications that require extended reach capabilities, giving Transmode the widest range of 10 Gbit/s optical solutions for the metro and regional networking market.

"Transmode has always taken the lead in the pursuit of simple to use and modular WDM solutions", said Patrik von Matern, Director of Product Management at Transmode. "The introduction of XFP optics continues this trend and enables our existing and future customers to really take advantage of low cost 10 Gbit/s networking. "

Also announced today is the extension of the amplified reach and capacity of the TM-Series platform. This allows Transmode's customers to deploy regional networks with links of up to 300 km for 32 channels, an extension of the previous 200 km with 16 channels. The unamplified DWDM configuration of the TM-Series supports up to 40 channels via Transmode's unique single fibre working architecture.
