MINNEAPOLIS -- Transition Networks, the conversion technology expert, announced today a new Fast Ethernet media converter with remote management and effective bandwidth allocation. This Fast Ethernet media converter solution provides a fully-managed conversion between 100BaseTX and 100BaseFX signals at Central Office (CO) and Customer Premises. This new product meets the link integrity, monitoring and loopback requirements of the new proposed Ethernet First Mile (EFM) IEEE 802.3ah standard.

With the Remotely Managed Fast Ethernet media converter, service providers can now monitor and manage the entire optical link from the CO to the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). They also have the ability to change the bandwidth offered to the customer in the increments of 64kbps and choose appropriate mode of connection from their Network Management centers.

"Highly secure and managed optical Ethernet media conversion, flexible bandwidth throttle, and a wide range of monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting features provide an exceptional value for service providers, who strive to provide cost-effective and highly-functional data services to their customers," said Bill Schultz, vice president of marketing at Transition Networks. "The Remotely Managed Fast Ethernet media converter enables service providers to deliver just that."
