TI Buys Tiscali Network

MILAN -- Telecom Italia S.p.A and Tiscali S.p.A announce to have reached an agreement for the purchase by Telecom Italia Sparkle of Tiscali’s optic fiber network, “Tiscali International Network SAS” (TINet SAS), for a total consideration of EUR 8 million.

Tiscali International Network SAS, subsidiary of Tiscali S.p.A, owns 15,000 km of fiber optic covering 12 European countries.

The transaction does not include the disposal of IP and VoIP (Voice over IP) international and national networks, which are controlled by Tiscali International Network B.V. Tiscali Group will remain the owner and will keep control of these networks in order to continue to offer IP and VoIP services of high quality to it’s customers. The disposal is subject to the approval of the competition authorities.
