6:15 PM -- Got money to throw away this holiday season? The Daily News has your target:

The Yankees are set to announce Wednesday they will sponsor a postseason college bowl to be played at the new Yankee Stadium with a seating capacity of 47,000 beginning in the 2010 season, the Daily News has learned.

The game, which will be tentatively known as "The Yankee Bowl," will feature a representative of the Big East Conference (most likely the fourth slotted team) against the seventh-slotted team from the Big 12. The game has yet to be approved by the NCAA...
...or by common decency. Rutgers vs. Baylor, anyone?

re: The Toilet Bowl
If Sara Lee, the struggling conglomerate that now owns Ty-D-Bowl, offered the Yanks $10 million for the naming rights to this event, which would become something like the Ty-D-Bowl Yankees Bowl, (a) how long do you think the Steinbrenners would think about taking that money, and (b) would they or wouldn't they?

Hankee would hesitate about 0.6 seconds.

Nobody doesn't like Ty-D-Bowl, but KFC may get in there first with its Cholesterol Bowl.

The halftime show alone would be worth the price of admission.

Joint sponsorship, maybe: The Purge Bowl.
