Texas Instruments Shipping Transceiver

DALLAS -- The industry's first available serial transceiver for 10 Gigabit Ethernet is now available from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN). The transceiver, which is based on the IEEE 802.3ae draft specification for 10 Gigabit Ethernet and designed in TI's CMOS technology, enables communication end equipment vendors to bring their products to market quickly, addressing local, metropolitan and wide area networks (LAN, MAN and WAN). Additionally, the device allows optical module vendors the ability to integrate the functionality into their solutions. (See http://www.ti.com/sc/msds5977u.)

"We selected TI's 10 gigabit serial transceiver not only because it was the first product to market, but it is also the industry's most robust solution for transmitting synchronized data throughput," said Marc Randall, Vice President of Engineering for Force10 Networks. "By working with TI, we are ensured that our products will be brought to market as quickly as possible."
