Foreign Exchange Service (FXS) card adds POTS (plain old telephone service) capabilities to the Terayon MainSail 8000 platform

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The Telecom Carrier Solutions business unit of Terayon Communication Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: TERN) today announced a new interface for the Terayon MainSail™ 8000 the first true Multi-function, Multi-service Access Platform (MMAP) as part of its ongoing program of adding new capabilities to the innovative platform. The new FXS interface card enables voice channels to be connected directly to the Terayon MainSail 8000’s time-division multiplexed (TDM) bus. Twelve voice channels are supported per card using FXS signaling, enabling the Terayon MainSail 8000 to support a wide range of voice services, including POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service).Bill Waters, senior vice president and general manager for Terayon’s Telecom Carrier Solutions business unit, commented: “This new FXS card means that carriers can now supply POTS and other voice services directly from the Terayon MainSail 8000 platform further contributing to the fulfillment of the Terayon MainSail 8000’s promise as a single, unified multi-function, multi-service access platform (MMAP).”A single FXS card provides 12 FXS ports, terminated on a 50-pin Amphenol connector. Up to 16 cards may be installed in a Terayon MainSail 8000 chassis, for a maximum configuration of 192 FXS ports per chassis. Terayon Communication Systems Inc.
