Terawave Wins Moscow FTTP Contract

Central Telegraph names Terawave Communications as sole supplier of FTTP equipment for its broadband multiservice access program

HAYWARD, Calif. -- OAO Central Telegraph leading telecommunication service provider in Moscow, Russia announced that it has chosen Terawave Communications’ as the sole supplier of FTTP equipment for its broadband multiservice access program, which will cover in excess of 95% of OAO Central Telegraph service area. "OAO Central Telegraph is deploying FTTP access networks using PON equipment of the Terawave Communications (USA), a leading world manufacturer of equipment and solutions for broadband multiservice optical access networks. PON equipment will be supplied by "Telecom Transport", one of major distributors of PON equipment in Russia.

“OAO Central Telegraph has evaluated Terawave Communications’ systems for several months to bring high-speed data and telephony to our customers, with guaranteed QoS", noted Vasily Stavritsky, Director of Service of Telecommunication Networks and Systems Development of OAO Central Telegraph. “The ease and installation and operation compared to more traditional solutions are the main reasons why OAO Central Telegraph chose PON as the technology of choice for the last mile". “The success experienced by OAO Central Telegraph with Terawave equipment to serve their corporate and residential customers demonstrates that FTTP technology is ready for prime time”, said Frank Lockwood, Vice President of Marketing of Terawave Communications. “Working closely with our Russian partner Telecom Transport, OAO Central Telegraph replaced traditional SDH access solutions with new PON technology to deliver telephony, high-speed Internet access and VLAN services”, added Frank Lockwood.
