CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Brix Networks, the trusted provider of real-time service assurance solutions to operators of service-centric networks, today announced that Telstra Corporation Limited, Australia's largest telecommunications carrier, has selected the Brix System to help measure and verify the quality of its new Telstra IP telephony service. IP telephony is a technology that allows ordinary telephone calls to be transformed into packets of data and efficiently transmitted over IP networks, meaning users only have to manage a single, converged network.

Telstra is initially deploying a number of Brix 100 (TM) and Brix 1000 (TM) Verifiers, purpose-built hardware appliances, along with the scalable BrixWorx (TM) central site software system running the Brix Advanced VoIP Test Suite, to test, monitor, and substantiate the quality and performance of its IP telephony network and associated services being offered to large enterprise customers. Brix Networks, utilizing the company's South Pacific distributor, Maser Technology Group, is providing Telstra with a real-time IP telephony network performance system that will enable Australia's telecommunications leader to monitor and report service performance.

"Brix is a service assurance offering that is capable of testing all aspects of our IP telephony network from a single, unified system," said Ken Lock, Telstra's director of data network solutions. "Telstra represents one of Australia's best known brands, and, as the Asia-Pacific region's foremost telecommunications company, has shown leadership in many market segments, including telephony, data, Internet telecommunications, and mobile," said Tom Pincince, president and CEO of Brix Networks.

The award-winning Brix System improves the overall effectiveness of networks, and allows organizations to maximize their investment in -- and increase the value of -- all their business-critical IP services. It consists of a family of hardware platforms, including the Brix 100 Verifier, the Brix 1000 Verifier, and the Brix 2500 (TM) Verifier, which are tightly integrated with the BrixWorx software engine and related optional test suites.
