Tellabs Goes to Acapulco

Avantel selects Tellabs to help it introduce new business communications services in 12 cities in Mexico

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Avantel, a Mexican telecommunications service provider, will use Tellabs' equipment to introduce voice and data business services in 12 of Mexico's largest cities. The Tellabs MartisDXX(R) managed access system, which consists of integrated hardware and network management software, will quickly and efficiently provision new services to help Avantel satisfy customer demand and generate revenue immediately. "We chose Tellabs because its managed access products will enable us to provide high-quality, value-added business services that are efficient and profitable," said Javier March, engineering and operations director for Avantel. "Our market is competitive and we are relying on Tellabs to help us bring new services to market quickly to keep our customers satisfied and loyal." The 12 cities where Avantel will use the Tellabs MartisDXX managed access system over a high-capacity optical network include: Tuxtla Gutierrez, Obregon City, Culiacan, Durango, Hermosillo, Mexicali, Nuevo Laredo, Mazatlan, Morelia, Tepic, Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco.Tellabs Inc.
