Tarifica Reports on Bandwidth Glut

LONDON -- A new white paper from TARIFICA - PBI Media, the global intelligence and content provider, suggests consumers and businesses, focused in clusters of metros around the developed world, are experiencing bandwidth under-supply. Lacking in speed and capacity, bandwidth has yet to generate the multimedia vision of unlimited capabilities for a host of new applications. However, the world outside key bandwidth routes remains completely unprovisioned. Tarifica has revisited the findings of their paper, The Bandwidth Glut, produced at the beginning of this year, and reveals the dynamics of an alleged glut continues to elude the market. In explaining the continuing drop in price of capacity, the paper argues as bandwidth across big pipes continues to fall in price, demand is continuing to fragment further and has not really moved beyond E-1 to STM-1 products. But the perception of a glut overlooks more fundamental factors at play.
