TA Outbid in Slovakia

VIENNA -- The Telekom Austria Group (VSE: TKA, NYSE: TKA) today announced that its wireless subsidiary mobilkom austria was outbid in the tender for the third mobile license in Slovakia. This decision was announced today by the Slovakian regulator.

Boris Nemsic, CEO of the Telekom Austria Group and CEO mobilkom austria said: “Slovakia would have been a window of opportunity in addition to the expansion strategy that we have announced. The acquisition of a third mobile license would have represented a good opportunity to benefit from the economic growth and the favorable framework conditions on the Slovakian mobile communications market. However, we will continue to focus on the expansion of our business in South-East Europe.”
