MADRID -- T-Systems announces that the Span-ish branch of its carriers’ carrier division, International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), is launching a city ring in Madrid, connecting the most important carrier access points, otherwise known as telehouses. This new capacity allows T-Systems to offer its full range of services and solutions to carriers and ISPs with complete end-to-end service.

“Since inaugurating our wholesale activities in March of 2003, we have seen a surge in business, meaning that we needed to double our total backbone capacity from 2.5 to 5 gigabits,” explains Leonard Pera, Director ICSS, T-Systems Spain. This investment highlights ICSS’ drive to provide quality solutions and unsurpassed local support for its customers around the globe.

The upgrade is in line with ICSS’ strategy of investing in areas only when there is proven customer demand in the wholesale business. The 2.5 gigabit city ring links the three main telehouses in Madrid, allowing T-Systems not only to better serve its customers, but also eliminate local loop issues and ensure competitive pricing as well. T-Systems’ continued commitment to the Spanish market is significant, when other carriers are con-solidating or pulling out of local markets.
