PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- STROM telecom, producer of modern telecommunications equipment, information systems and technologies, today published its financial results for the fiscal year 2005. The company recorded a profit of 2.09 billion Czech crowns (CZK) with a turnover of CZK 4.99 billion. In a year-on-year comparison, the company’s sales of products and services increased by 110 percent, while its profit grew by CZK1.73 billion compared to 2004.

“Our company’s excellent results reflect the quality of our products and services as well as the overall situation on the market, namely the growing demand among telecommunication operators for customized convergence solutions, combining voice, data, and content services,” said STROM telecom’s CEO Nihad Hurem. “Thanks to our focus on new markets and the strengthening of our position on western markets, we expect our turnover in 2006 to grow by a further 100 percent,” Hurem added.

STROM telecom’s financial results in 2005 surpassed expectations and are reflected in the evaluation of the company in recently published authoritative economic surveys of companies in the Czech Republic. STROM telecom has for the first time earned a place among the top 100 companies in the country (Czech Top 100). Moreover, STROM telecom ranked as the Czech company with the fourth fastest growing profit margin. Concurrently, STROM telecom has also improved its standing among the top performing ICT companies in the Czech Republic, ranking fifth in the TOP100 ICT CW for 2005.

Of major significance for STROM telecom in 2005 was the successful development of the company’s TENNET product range for Next Generation Networks. At the beginning of the year, development of the company’s soft-switch built on the open architecture of AdvancedTCA, (soft-switches form the essential core of IP-based platforms), was successfully concluded. The TENNET solution is now in operation in a pilot NGN zone in the network of Moscow’s largest fixed line operator, MGTS.
