TOKYO -- Nokia Siemens Networks and Panasonic Mobile Communications Co. Ltd., a Panasonic group company, have been selected by NTT DOCOMO to develop next generation mobile broadband network architecture for LTE-A (long term evolution-advanced). As part of a multi-year agreement, the two companies will provide NTT DOCOMO with high-capacity base stations optimized for the requirements of LTE-A. These base stations will ensure initial equipment capacity of 300 Mbps (megabits per second) in the network and enable new cloud-based architecture and services. In addition, the two vendors will provide Remote Radio Head (RRH) to roll out small cells to enhance the coverage and capacity of the LTE-A network.
