Asia Netcom and Telekom Malaysia sign interconnection deal to further expand both companies' coverage into Southeast Asia and the Middle East

HONG KONG -- Asia Netcom and TelekomMalaysia Berhad (TM) recently signed a partnership agreement forNetwork-to-Network Interconnection (NNI), which will further expand bothcompanies' coverage into key growth markets in Southeast Asia and theMiddle East, whilst improving communication efficiencies for theircustomers.

Under the scope of the NNI agreement, both companies will interconnecttheir respective telecommunications networks to expand direct peeringconnections in major cities, by utilizing each other's Multi Protocol LabelSwitching (MPLS) Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN)capabilities to provide advanced IP solutions to key business customers inthe region.

Dato' Zam Isa, Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Business, TM said,"This interconnection agreement will strengthen our business relationshipwith Asia Netcom as well as increase our service coverage. By leveraging onAsia Netcom's EAC-C2C network, our customers can enjoy improvedconnectivity services and route diversity to the most populous regions inthe Asia Pacific. In return, Asia Netcom will leverage on TM's globalpresence specifically in the Middle East and throughout Southeast Asia tofurther enhance their presence in the region."

According to Bill Barney, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Netcom, "As wecontinue to expand our footprint into Southeast Asia, we are pleased toteam up with TM in delivering seamless connectivity to our customers. Inaddition, we will be able to leverage on enhanced connectivity into theMiddle East region to further explore new business opportunities there."
