Thoma Bravo Acquires DigiCert

Thoma Bravo adds to its communications networking-related portfolio with the acquisition of a majority stake in IoT security specialist DigiCert.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Thoma Bravo, LLC, a leading private equity investment firm, announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a majority interest in Utah-based DigiCert, a global SSL Certificate Authority (CA) and the leading provider of trusted certificate management solutions. As part of the transaction, TA Associates, a leading global growth private equity firm and current majority shareholder in DigiCert, will sell a portion of its interest and will remain as a minority shareholder. While financial details were not disclosed, the Thoma Bravo investment represents one of the largest technology investments ever made in a Utah-based business.

DigiCert facilitates certificate deployment and management for enterprise projects ranging from thousands to tens of millions of publicly trusted certificates.
