SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Silicon & Software Systems (S3), a leading supplier of network processor solutions, today announced four application frameworks supporting the Intel® IXP 2xxx product line of network processors. These products take full advantage of the power and flexibility of the IXP family. They offer IXP optimized and tested data / control plane solutions integrated with leading industry protocol stacks to provide solutions for the ATM, Ethernet, Traffic Management and Load Balancing / Layer 7 Content Classification markets.S3's ATM Building Block provides a complete dataplane implementation for core ATM functions; Classical IP over AAL5 for data and AAL2 for Voice over ATM. Jointly developed with Teja Technologies, using the Teja NP development environment, this product is targeted at equipment manufacturers serving the DSLAM, Multiservice Switch and 3G wireless markets.S3's ATM/Ethernet Foundation Application is built around a concept of an ATM to Gigabit Ethernet bridge. It consists of the necessary control and forwarding plane components required to build an IP router capable of transmitting voice, IP traffic and custom data over ATM and Gigabit Ethernet. The control plane implements full IP routing and ATM signaling.S3's Software Traffic Manager component is a foundation block for building Internet QoS. It provides a complete dataplane implementation for core Traffic Control Block functions, as well as implementing the enqueue, dequeue and scheduling functions needed for Virtual Output Queues. At the control plane level, the traffic manager can be configured for ATM TM v4.1 or as a DiffServ Router according to RFC3290.The S3 Server Load Balancing Switch / Content Classification solution on the Intel® IXP2400 network processing platform offers highly sophisticated traffic distribution algorithms coupled with the performance of a switching architecture. Advanced features such as preservation of client sessions, network address translation and extensive filtering capabilities are supported. All of the above solutions can be enhanced by embeddedMIND (TM), S3's framework for embedded network element management. In addition to providing industry standard management interfaces (CLI, XML/HTTP, SNMP, custom) embeddedMINDTM also provides a sophisticated request and event processing layer for system configuration, connection management and statistics reporting, fault notification and performance monitoring. In addition embeddedMINDTM supports the control plane APIs included in the Intel® Internet Exchange Architecture Software Development Kit 3.0."S3's NP solutions and the Intel IXP2400 and IXP2800 network processors are a very compelling combination for equipment manufacturers seeking reduced development costs and time to revenue advantages." said Jim O'Donoghue, General Manager of S3's Network Processing Business Unit. "Our goal is to make it easy for equipment vendors to build systems based on network processors.""The combination of S3's application frameworks, and the Intel IXP2xxx product line of network processors provides developers with a flexible solution that can help them get to market quickly" said Nick Finamore, general manager, Intel Network Processor Division.Silicon & Software Systems Ltd.
