Rumor Mill Run Amok

7:45 AM -- Rumors are rife about Orange (NYSE: FTE) and Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT) getting together in some way. (See Euronews: Sept. 7.)

Now, there is another bit of speculation to heap onto the pile: According to an industry source, the French and German giants are trying to set up a joint venture in Poland, like the one they forged in the UK. (See Eurosqueeze?, Orange, T-Mobile Do Everything Everywhere , and T-Mobile, Orange Join Forces in UK.)

But a France Telecom spokesman says that there are "no discussions for a further JV with Deutsche Telekom."
