Alcatel-Lucent deploy IP/MPLS network for Halyk Bank in Kazakhstan

ALMATY, Kazakhstan -- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that JSC “Halyk Bank” – one of the main general-purpose banks of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has selected the latest Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS portfolio to build a MultiProtocolLabelSwitching(MPLS)-based network for its subsidiary JSC “Kazteleport”. The design, deployment and maintenance of the network is also included in the contract.
Alcatel-Lucent’s Ethernet and IP/MPLS solution enables JSC “Kazteleport” to offer highly reliable communication services such as Virtual Leased Lines (VLL) and Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) to its business customers, mainly banks. The newly built IP/MPLS network also forms the platform for future services which will allow the next wave of advanced services with minimal further investment.
In the frame of this contract Alcatel-Lucent installed Alcatel-Lucent 7750 and 7710 Service Routers,Alcatel-Lucent 7250 Service Access Switch for the backbone network and Alcatel-Lucent 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS) which provided scalable Ethernet/MPLS aggregation resulting in high bandwidth for high-speed Internet, video and voice services.
“The modern banking system of Kazakhstan applies innovative technologies to form a highly effective environment for the country’s financial organizations operation,” commented Askar Kusainov, Deputy Chairman on Information Technologies of Halyk Bank. “This IP/MPLS network project implemented by Alcatel-Lucent allows us to significantly improve operations in Halyk bank as well as in the whole financial system of the Republic of Kazakhstan which will help to form this system in compliance with highest international standards.”
