Qwest Names SVP

DENVER -- Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q - News) today announced that Thomas F. Gillett has joined the company as senior vice president of corporate development and strategy reporting to Qwest Chief Financial Officer Oren Shaffer. Gillett most recently served as an advisor for various telecommunications companies. Gillett brings more than 30 years of telecommunications management experience at both entrepreneurial start-up firms and established corporations. In the last 10 years, he has been a member of the founding teams of three telecommunications companies. He was the founding CEO and chairman of Digital Broadband Communications, leading the company through its equity and debt financing and its multi-city network deployment of broadband services and transport to businesses in the Northeast. "Tom brings tremendous entrepreneurial experience, extensive knowledge of our industry and an ability to identify and manage strategic business opportunities," said Shaffer.
