QUEBEC CITY -- EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO) (TSX: EXF) announced today the addition of a comprehensive VoLTE test suite to its complete performance management system, BrixWorx. As this test suite is designed to provide continuous visibility of LTE packet voice performance and quality levels, mobile network operators (MNO) now have the ability to effectively troubleshoot and proactively monitor the health of new VoLTE infrastructures through live traffic generation, while measuring key performance indicators (KPI).

No longer a lab exercise, VoLTE is now being aggressively rolled out into live network trials with mass deployment expected within the year. Fueled by the explosive growth of LTE data traffic, the need to reduce operating costs and the promise of new competitive services, VoLTE presents significant challenges for MNOs to both achieve their business objectives as well as meet the reliability and quality expectations of their existing 2G/3G circuit-switch voice subscribers.

"By expanding the BrixWorx service assurance platform with VoLTE/IMS monitoring and troubleshooting functionalities such as live VoLTE traffic generation, MNOs can now measure and analyze LTE voice KPIs in real time, detect potential service degradations and make the necessary corrections before they impact customers," said Claudio Mazzuca, Vice-President of EXFO's Transport and Service Assurance Division. "VoLTE test suite also complements existing Brix suites for mobile handsets, mobile Ethernet backhaul, IP/MPLS transport and IMS core to provide full end-to-end coverage of next-generation, converged, all-IP networks."

The VoLTE test suite supports the latest GSMA IR.92 and IR.94 standards for voice, SMS and video-over-LTE within IPsec AKA authentication and encryption security associations. The direct performance monitoring of critical IMS core elements, including CSCF multimedia telephony (MMTel), 3GPP single radio voice call continuity (SRVCC), distributed DNS and DRA-based HSS, is also provided. Brix VoLTE speeds up problem isolation by providing segmented views of subscriber QoE, Ethernet/IP transport, and network element performance as well as focused, on-demand, test-probing functions.
