Optinel Ships Optical Filters

First release from Intelligent Optical Subsystem portfolio includes DWDM gratings, pump stabilizers, and grating arrays

ELKRIDGE, Md. -- Optinel Systems, an intelligent optical systems and subsystems company, today announced shipments of its advanced optical filters to top tier manufacturers of optical networking equipment. Optical filters are the first in a series of products Optinel Systems will produce to improve the performance, cost-effectiveness, and revenue-generation capability of existing and next-generation optical networks for both the telecom and cable industries. "Our solutions, the first of which we're delivering now, will enable more efficient transport for the telecom industry," says Ronald R. Spoehel, chief executive officer, Optinel Systems. "Additionally, in 2002, we look forward to expanding our portfolio to include advanced DWDM systems solutions for the cable industry. As a core technology of our multi-generational product portfolio, we are very pleased to have achieved volume production of optical filters within nine months of starting the company." The new product family consists of four types of optical filters:
* DWDM Gratings, with channel spacing below 25 GHz and supporting C, L, and S-Bands
* Pump Stabilizers, featuring reflectivity of 1 - 10 percent
* Grating Arrays
* Advanced In-fiber Periodic Structures, providing enhanced optical networking functionality Optinel Systems
