LOS GATOS, Calif. -- StrataLight Communications, Inc. (StrataLight), the leader in commercial deployment of 40 Gbps optical transmission subsystems, announced today that it has shipped its 2500th high performance, long reach 40 Gbps DWDM transponder. This milestone, achieved in the second quarter of 2008, encompasses transponders that utilize both of StrataLight’s current modulation technologies, Optical Duo-Binary (ODB) and Differential Phase Shift Keyed (DPSK).

“We are very proud of this significant milestone,” said Shri Dodani, CEO at StrataLight Communications. “Shipping our 2500th 40 Gbps transponder is a distinct technological and operational achievement. From a technological perspective, we’ve developed a suite of field proven solutions that allow carriers to deploy 40 Gbps services using common 10 Gbps engineering rules. Equally impressive though, is the commercial and operational success in transforming our leading technology into a volume business that creates real value for our customers and partners.”

StrataLight Communications made its NEBS level-3 40 Gbps transmission products available in 2004 with its initial OTS-4000 PSBT (Phase Shifted Binary Transmission also known as ODB) subsystem. With initial trials in 2005 and network deployments in 2006, StrataLight has secured several OEM partners of networking equipment offering both PSBT and DPSK technologies at 40 Gbps.

LOS GATOS, Calif. -- StrataLight Communications, Inc. (StrataLight), the market leader in commercial deployment of 40 Gbps optical transmission subsystems, today announced its enhanced reach 40 Gbps product line for its OTS-4000 subsystem based on Differential Phase Shift Keying (DPSK) technology.

Since 2004, StrataLight has been shipping its Phase Shaped Binary Transmission (PSBT) product family based on its OTS-4000 platform. While the PSBT product addresses the short to long haul market (less than 1000km), the DPSK technology is aimed at the long-haul to ultra-long haul (greater than 1000km) market, well suited for nationwide and pan-continental network deployments. With technological advances in electronic integration and optical components, StrataLight has continued to innovate and redesigned its complete data transport product line to optimize its products and better address this market segment. This product line is comprised of:

(i) OTS-4040-DPSK, a full standards (OTU3, OC-768/STM-256) compliant 40 Gbps Tunable DWDM transponder;
(ii) OTS-4011-DPSK, a standards (OTU3, OC-768/STM-256, OTU2, OC-192/STM-64, 10GE LAN/WAN) compliant 4x10 Gbps to 40 Gbps multiplexing tunable DWDM transponder; and
(iii) OTS-4400-DPSK, a universal 40 Gbps tunable DWDM regenerator to further extend the reach of both of the above products.

“StrataLight has shipped hundreds of DPSK linecards to our customers,” said Jin Hong, Vice President of PLM at StrataLight. “This is another major milestone as we continue to innovate and develop a new generation of 40G products.”
