AMSTERDAM -- Pilot Photonics has announced the demonstration of two new products; a C-band tunable optical comb source and a four-channel 28-GHz optical comb source.

These capabilities are particularly interesting to designers and researchers creating the next generation of super-channel-based optical networks.

Pilot Photonics is demonstrating these optical comb solutions at the ECOC exhibition in Amsterdam, RAI Center.

The C-band tunable optical comb, with variable free spectral range (FSR) offers researchers and developers the degree of flexibility, stability and simplicity needed to facilitate their experiments, never available before in a single product.

“We are pleased to be in the position to demonstrate this capability here at ECOC,” said Dr. Stan Lumish, CEO and Chairman of Pilot Photonics. “By offering C-Band tunability, along with 28-Ghz channel spacing; our products work to meet the needs of future industry demands.”

“The optical communications industry is forward thinking in assessing market needs. Optical comb technology can offer novel sources for super-channel-based optical networks,” commented Daryl Inniss, Vice President and Practice Leader, Components, Ovum. “While we are still managing 10G, we must look ahead to transmission of 100G and beyond.”

The four channel 28-GHz optical comb is an extension of the company’s current fixed comb product, introduced at OFC/NFOEC 2012. This optical comb is particularly relevant to designers of 400 Gbps transmission systems and will facilitate the creation of a stable testing environment.
