Advanced Photonix signs agreement to deliver 40G optical receivers

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Picometrix, LLC, an Advanced Photonix Company (NYSE Amex: API), announced that it signed an agreement with an industry leading manufacturer of optical subsystems. Picometrix will supply 40G balanced optical receivers to be incorporated into the customer's next generation transponders to support long-haul telecommunication networks. As part of Picometrix's increasing market share in line-side 40G optical receivers, the company expects annual revenues from this agreement in excess of $1 million in the current fiscal year (FY2010).

Under the agreement, Picometrix will supply line-side DQPSK optical receivers. These products utilize Picometrix's industry leading, patented photodiode, amplifier and component packaging technologies to supply the highest performance and most compact products on the market today. The Company's optical receivers will be incorporated into the customer's 40G transponders, which in turn will be deployed throughout the networks of telecommunication service providers.
