FREMONT, Calif. -- Optoplex Corporation, a leading supplier of D(Q)PSK Delay Line Interferometer (DLI) for 40Gb/s optical communications, and u2t Photonics AG, a provider of innovative leading edge optoelectronic components for fiber optic systems, today announced their successful development of integrated DPSK receivers for next generation high speed optical communications.

Currently, Optoplex is the major supplier of D(Q)PSK DLI with more than 85% market share while u2t is the dominant supplier of 40G and 100G detectors and receivers not only for high speed optical communication systems but also test and measurement systems and laboratory setups. Today, most of the 40G subsystem and system companies purchase the D(Q)PSK DLIs from Optoplex and u²t’s 40G detectors and receivers.

The integrated receivers incorporate Optoplex’s well established micro-interferometer technology and u2t’s innovative balanced receiver technology to offer an integrated demodulation receiving solution to their customers. The DPSK system companies will benefit from the integrated receivers with smaller form-factor, no fiber routing (compared to the use of discrete components), ease in parts and component managements, and most importantly, lower system cost.
