CALABASAS HILLS, Calif. -- Lynx Photonic Networks (www.LynxPN.com), the leading provider of photonic solutions, announced today that Rostelecom, Russia's national telecommunications operator, has placed a major order for Lynx photonic systems to protect its dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) links. In the event of link failures, the Lynx systems will provide Rostelecom with guaranteed protection of its critical DWDM backbone, ensuring fast network recovery time that meets the stringent requirements of the telecommunications industry.

Before signing the sales agreement, which includes initial purchase and onsite support, Rostelecom conducted extensive testing of the Lynx systems. The successful results led to Rostelecom purchasing multiple units for deployment in its long-distance network and to official certification by Russia for the Lynx product.

"We are proud to provide Rostelecom with Lynx's cost-effective and advanced add-on solutions to enhance their network availability," said Lynx CEO Daniel Tal. "This contract illustrates the increasing demand for optical protection systems and the strengthening of Lynx's market leadership in this field"

Lynx offers an extensive line of photonic switching solutions and subsystems, including the popular LightLEADERTM family of compact plug-and-play communications systems for protection switching and numerous other applications.
