SUGAR LAND, Texas -- Applied Optoelectronics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of laser diodes, photodetectors, and optical modules for fiber optic communication systems, is pleased to introduce a full photodetector product line for applications including Cable TV (CATV) forward and return path, Passive Optical Networks (PON), digital transmission systems employing Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) or Quadrature Phase-Shift Keying (QPSK), Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA), and Fiber-to-the-curb (FTTC)/Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks.

Key features of the photodetectors include:

  • Low capacitance

  • High linearity

  • Frequency Response up to 3000 MHz (PD1000 series up to 1000 MHz)

  • Wide operating temperature

  • High responsivity

  • Package Styles: Pigtailed, Receptacle, Metal Receptacle

This product line is currently in production and has a manufacturing capacity of 10,000 devices per month

“As fiber continues to penetrate deeper into modern networks, there is an emerging need for photodiodes that combine small physical size with excellent linearity and high-frequency performance,” comments Dr. Fred Chang, VP of Manufactuirng at AOI. “To meet this need, AOI has developed a unique manufacturing technology to enable the production of photodiodes with integrated standard angle-polished optical connectors.”
