MUNICH -- Coriant, a global supplier of leading optical transport solutions, announced today that A1, the Austrian subsidiary of Telekom Austria Group, has deployed Coriant’s hiT 7300 intelligent optical transport platform to increase the capacity of its network infrastructure and enhance the performance of its converged fixed line and mobile service offerings. A1’s nationwide DWDM backbone network, which recently began commercial operations, provides the resilient foundation for enhanced end-user services by enabling A1 to rapidly deploy service capacity and seamlessly scale to connection speeds of 100 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) and beyond as consumer and business demands for network bandwidth evolve.

“We continue to advance the capabilities of our network infrastructure to ensure the delivery of best-in-class converged services and the highest quality broadband experience for our customers,” said Marcus Grausam, Chief Technical Officer, A1. “We selected Coriant not only for the superior performance of its coherent optical transport system, but also for the embedded system intelligence that allows us to simplify operations, speed the provisioning of network capacity, and adapt to the dynamic, real-time needs of today’s end-user applications.”

A1’s new DWDM network connects Vienna with all major cities in Austria and is designed to support the increasing use of high-bandwidth enterprise and subscriber services and applications, including on-demand high-definition (HD) video streaming, 4G/LTE, broadband access, IP-TV, and cloud computing. The state-of-the-art photonic mesh network is based on Coriant’s industry-leading hiT 7300 DWDM transport system, which allows A1 to support transmission speeds of 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s, maximize utilization of its fiber infrastructure, and reduce overall latency to ensure the highest service performance.
