STOCKHOLM -- Ericsson is expanding its line of SPO Packet Optical Transport Platform (POTP) products and the new products will be showcased at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC) this week in Anaheim, California. The new SPO 1485 Multiservice Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) enhances network operator’s flexibility for the metro core with high 10Gbps service density and low power profile for a lower total cost of ownership (TCO).The new SPO 1485 addresses the need for simple, low-TCO 10Gbps service connectivity, 10Gbps transport and the latest in low-latency, long distance coherent 100Gbps transport. Along with the SPO 1480 and its centralized 3.2Tbps OTN, packet and SDH switch and the SPO’s external 96 channel 2-way, 4-way and 9-way Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexers (ROADMs), network operators can scale their metro core networking and capacity to cost effectively match their business. The new SPO 1485 upholds the SPO 1400 family’s key characteristics of low power profile and high-capacity density.Ericsson AB
