A single-slot wavelength-selective switch is available for the Z77 and Z33

PETALUMA, Calif. -- Cyan today announced the addition of a new, highly-integrated, reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) module with up to 40 channels of wavelength selectable switching (WSS) for use in Cyan Z-Series platforms. The new Z-Series WSS-402 module simplifies the upgrade of fiber transport routes for up to 400 Gbps of capacity per-fiber with simple plug and play modules, and optional fixed or tunable optics. Backed by the revolutionary CyMS multi-layer management system, Z-Series customers benefit from network-wide, simple point and click A to Z provisioning of wavelengths on demand. The new single-slot design now adds full ROADM functionality to Cyan Z33 and Z77 platforms.
“The new Cyan Z-Series WSS-402 module makes it easier than ever for us to incrementally scale network capacity, when and where needed,” said John Greene, Chief Network Engineer at Great Plains Communications. “We deployed Cyan’s Z33 and Z77 platforms to support 10 Gigabit Carrier Ethernet, wireless backhaul, as well as existing SONET/SDH and wavelength services. Our recent deployment of the new WSS-402 module in our Z-Series network confirmed that we can readily add further network capacity and wavelength switching for current and future services. Collectively, Cyan’s Z-Series solutions have enabled us to roll out new services to increase revenues, while simultaneously reducing the cost of capacity for greater profitability.”
