OMM Passes Telcordia Standard
Its photonic switching subsystems conform to Telcordia Technologies' environmental and reliability requirements
July 16, 2001
SAN DIEGO -- OMM announced today that its photonic switching subsystems conform to Telcordia Technologies' environmental and reliability requirements for carrier-class equipment. OMM is the first and only manufacturer of MEMS-based photonic switches to meet this stringent standard. The OMM-applicable Telcordia analysis subjected OMM switches to an array of tests, including mechanical integrity and endurance. Telcordia conformance is a critical requirement for widespread commercial deployment of MEMS-based photonic switching subsystems within telecommunications networks. "This is the highest level endorsement for OMM's carrier-class products and is a milestone in the rapidly evolving optical MEMS industry," said Phil Chapman, CEO of OMM, Inc. "In order to satisfy the needs of telecommunications service providers, OMM's MEMS-based photonic switch subsystems now conform to applicable environmental and reliability standards in Telcordia GR-1073-CORE, GR-1221-CORE and GR-468-CORE."
