HAYWARD, Calif. -- Glimmerglass, a provider of intelligent optical switches, announced that NTT Leasing, the venture investment organization of NTT, expanded their investment in Glimmerglass, investing in the company for the second time within the past six months in a move underlining the strategic importance of Glimmerglass'products for next generation optical networks.

Commercial communications companies such as Japan's NTT see intelligent optical switches as a critical component for building a flexible and economical network to support bandwidth-intensive applications. Networks that integrate Glimmerglass' products can scale efficiently, delivering ubiquitous broadband services to tens of millions of customers. NTT Leasing invested $1M in Glimmerglass in September 2005.

"Glimmerglass continues to achieve impressive business growth in Japan and worldwide," said Masaaki Nogawa, executive vice president of NTT Leasing. "Its products are increasingly used in important commercial networks and defense applications to connect and monitor enormous flows of information on optical fibers. We expanded our interests in Glimmerglass because they continue to achieve excellent results."

"Naturally, this strong endorsement of Glimmerglass will help us grow our business in Japan and across Asia," said Glimmerglass Chief Executive Officer, Robert Lundy. "It's quite a testimony to the significance of optical switches in broadband networks. NTT Leasing's contributions will accelerate our ability to deliver solutions that improve the flexibility, efficiency and capacities of networks around the world."
