BOSTON and PLANO, Texas -- Netrake, the premier provider of session controllers for VoIP interconnection, today announced a partnership with Camiant, a leading provider of intelligent policy servers for the broadband industry. These two companies together will provide a secure and complete end-to-end solution for MSOs offering SIP-based residential VoIP services using PCMM to enable Quality of Service (QoS). Netrake will integrate Camiant's PCMM Policy Server Platform with its own award-winning session controller technology in order to securely allow MSOs to provide residential VoIP services.

The joint solution, including Camiant’s QBUS Multimedia Service Controller (QBUS MSC) and Netrake’s nCite, allows cable operators to solve Firewall/Network Address Translation (FW/NAT) traversal issues at the customer premise by hosting the capability in the operator’s network, while providing QoS for calls using CableLabs PCMM specifications. With this architecture, high quality voice services are assured without the need for separate, dedicated voice and data bandwidth, substantially increasing network utilization.

Netrake and Camiant have worked together to enable a seamless deployment in an MSO network. This integrated solution takes down yet another barrier in offering fast and reliable services. The solution is expected to be in trials with major MSOs in Q4 later this year.

In this type of deployment, the nCite acts as the outbound proxy for SIP devices at the customer premise. Once the endpoints register, the nCite will auto-provision the SIP devices with all the necessary settings to enable inbound calls (signaling and media) to traverse the residential FW/NAT device. As users make and receive calls, nCite issues requests to Camiant’s QBUS MSC to provide QoS. The QBUS MSC evaluates subscriber and network status, and dynamically directs the CMTS to provide service according to the operator’s policies. As calls are modified and ended, the nCite/QBUS MSC integration dynamically alters and releases network resources for other services to use.

"Netrake’s product excellence made partnering an easy choice for Camiant," said Ed Delaney, Vice President of Business Development for Camiant. "Our joint solution introduces the capability to dynamically and intelligently control the flow of information over the network to identify and mitigate the effects of harmful traffic."
