TORONTO -- Redknee Inc., a leading provider of innovative infrastructure software that monetizes and personalizes services and content for mobile users, today announced it has upgraded Vodafone UK's Intelligent Packet Core (IPC) network. Redknee's Unified Rating and Charging System (URCS) now extends the IPC network with IP charging capabilities.

"Redknee is pleased to be part of Vodafone UK's IPC network," said Lucas Skoczkowski, CEO of Redknee. "URCS allows operators to capture the full value of content and application downloads, streaming content such as Mobile TV, and provides Policy Decision Functions (PDF) and Charging Rules Functions (CRF)."

As part of this deployment, Vodafone UK's IPC network now supports postpaid and prepaid traffic and session control. In addition, the solution enables quota management for General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) mobile data. URCS also provides Vodafone UK with volume and time (duration) based rating for prepaid traffic, as well as support for the Diameter Credit Control Application (CCA) protocol. Diameter offers improvements in the areas of reliability, security, scalability and flexibility over previous Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) protocols such as Remote Authentication Dial-In User Server (RADIUS.)
