BURLINGTON, Mass. -- iBasis, a KPN company, and Telekom Austria Group, today announced an LTE Roaming peering agreement that will benefit mobile network operator (MNO) customers of both companies by enabling a consistent, high quality LTE roaming experience for their subscribers. The new agreement leverages the companies’ existing GRX peering agreement, as well as each company’s IP eXchange (IPX).
A rapidly growing number of interconnected operators are leveraging the global IPX ecosystem to add value for their subscribers by utilizing IPX-enabled components, including Signaling/S6a and S9 (Diameter), Data/S8 and VoLTE, to deliver a complete LTE Roaming solution.
“We are eager to accelerate the global adoption of LTE roaming, which benefits the entire mobile communications community from subscribers to operators to solution providers and application developers,” said Willem Offerhaus, iBasis CEO. “Peering with qualified partners that share that vision, like Telekom Austria Group, enables us to expand our global LTE Roaming footprint and offer additional destinations quickly and efficiently.”
