M1 Trials PTT

SINGAPORE -- Push to Talk, the service that turns the mobile phone into a “walkie-talkie” device and is popular in the United States, will debut in Singapore in a limited trial on the M1 network starting this week.

The trial to gauge users’ experience will last about three weeks and involve a select group of M1 enterprise customers including The Marriott Hotel and UPS.

Push to Talk allows fast and real-time voice connection one-to-one or one-to-many by the simple push of a button. Enterprise customers in the transportation, distribution and retail industries will find the feature especially useful for communication within and between work groups.

M1’s Chief Executive Officer, Neil Montefiore, said: “Push to Talk over cellular can potentially complement the mobile business by meeting the special communication needs of certain groups of end users, particularly enterprise customers. The feedback and experience gained from this trial will assist us in defining the scope and shape of the service should we decide to launch it in the near future.”
