LightPointe Adds to Sales Team

SAN DIEGO -- LightPointe, an innovator, designer and manufacturer of carrier-class optical transmission equipment using Free-Space Optical (FSO™) technology, today announced the appointment of telecommunications industry veteran Douglas C. Smidl as Vice President, Worldwide Sales.Smidl is responsible for the growth of LightPointe’s worldwide sales force activities, including carrier- and enterprise-focused initiatives in North America, Europe and Asia. Smidl comes to LightPointe from ADC Telecommunications, Inc., where he most recently led the Broadband Access and Transport Group sales staff of 225 generating annual revenues of $800 million.
